I am struggling with the removal of post components like dividers, images, HTML elements, etc on my Android mobile device. There is no option in the context menu to delete them, and when I select them to click the Backspace key, my keyboard on Android is hidden.
Could you share some hints with me on how to easily remove such elements or introduce a trash bin icon on the context menu?
Found the same issue you were experiencing using Chrome as the browser. My platform:
Phone: Google Pixel 9 (Android 16)
Firefox: 148.0
After a lot of trial and error I found that the Firefox browser allows me to delete the image and gallery elements. I started with the browser view set to “Desktop View” and that worked, then tried the default mobile view in Firefox and that worked as well. Importantly you have to select a text object in the post first to get the keyboard to show, then select the image (maybe have to tap on it twice) which will show the small toolbar at the top of the element and then press backspace on the keyboard.
Another hiccup I found using a Lenovo tablet (rooted and running an AOSP Android 14 build) is that by default it did not have the GBoard keyboard but was running an AOSP keyboard. After going to the Play store, installing GBoard, and then setting that as my keyboard, I found the same success using Firefox on this tablet.
Using Chrome or any other Chromium based browser I saw the same failed behavior as all of you, specifically that the keyboard would hide as soon as I selected an image or gallery element.
It’s possible that other Android phones may have different behavior, but maybe this combo of things will help others. This post is one of the few resources that came up when searching for a solution to this problem.
