Self-hosting with Docker - preview testers wanted!

Are you self-hosting Ghost and curious what’s coming next?

We are looking for a handful of intrepid self-hosters to do some early testing of a new batteries-included method of hosting Ghost with docker, which will support the upcoming Analytics and ActivityPub features.

If you’d be interested to try out setting up a brand-new full-featured Ghost site OR you have an existing “traditional” Ghost-CLI site you’d be happy to test migrating, we’d like to hear from you.

We need folks with some availability in the next 2 weeks to try things out and give us feedback.

If you’re interested, drop a comment here with the details of whether you have a new project you’re looking to spin up on the latest Ghost OR a Ghost-CLI site to migrate.

Excited to hear from y’all

Currently hosting with Ghost CLI on DigitalOcean, and I was planning on migrating to run a beta in parallel using Docker for the 6.0 release.

I think I’m your guy for this test. :winking_face_with_tongue:

Definitely interested. I have an existing ghost site and was planning on migrating it when 6.0 came out to use the new features. Self hosted using docker on my own server. More than happy to test

Also interested, but only if it’s possible to also include customizations without building custom images (I in particular have an extension for using DigitalOcean spaces + replacing search with meiliserarch) and using an external database. I’d be moving from a ghost-cli to Kubernetes rather than Docker and could provide the k8s descriptors I use.

Currently hosting 3 instances on one DigitalOcean droplet with S3. I was planning on switching them to a Hetzner ARM server with coolify.io (uses docker). So would be interested!

Currently hosting 2 instances on AWS, planning to migrate. Interested in the test.

I’m also self hosting on AWS and happy to help

I am hosting currently a version on a VPS.

I have 3 ghost instances using docker in a docker swarm cluster.

I’m running multiple Ghost sites with Docker on the Fly.io free tier. I’d be interested trying to get the new version running there, so I can update my tutorials in advance of the release of Ghost 6.

Interested!
I have to migrate a really old 2008 WP blog to ghost and setup 2 brand new installations in the following days/weeks.
I had 2 other old cli installations that need to be upgraded and could be used as testing as well.
So I am happy to participate in this test.

Thanks.

I’m in! I have two Ghost sites on development plus ~30 open-source apps fully managed by myself.

I wish I can help you with my testing experience.

Hi, I self host 3 ghost blogs, and I’m interested.

I’m interested and looking to spin up a new project on the latest Ghost.

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered so far!

We’re starting to invite people slowly to a new group here on the forum where you can find all the details.

We currently self-host 8 Ghost sites on DigitalOcean and would be more than happy to help with early testing. We’re experienced with Ghost-CLI setups and open to trying out the new Docker-based method for both setting up a brand-new full-featured site and migrating existing ones.

We can dedicate time over the next 2 weeks to provide feedback and share any insights during the process. Let us know how we can get started!

Also happy to be involved. Currently looking to spin up ghost for a new blog.

I have a couple of Ghost sites and am very curious about what’s next. I had activitypub running on one for a bit but fell behind on updates. Excited to hopefully get that running again. I am looking to launch a new newsletter project soon and would love to see how my current themes will do (via BrightThemes). Thanks!

I’ve been closely following the development of the new version of Ghost with ActivityPub and I’m interested in joining the beta test. I hope It’s not too late.

I’ve self-hosted Ghost in the past, and I have a brand new site project I’d like to start.

I just found this forum. Yup I definitely want to try. I started selfhosting couple months ago and because I am not averse to risk I simple switch the docker tag to rcx version of 6. Unfortunately I got this screen when hitting network because I believe I am missing some services in compose file. Happy to be involved in testing :)
