Some questions about using Ghost

Been a Wordpress user for many years and trying Ghost 6.0. Really liking it but there are some questions that Wordpress usually solves with plugins.

  1. Is there a better Gallery option for Ghost? On my phone, I cant seem to swipe between images in a gallery. On a computer, the left/right buttons do it but more than half of my traffic is mobile.

  2. Is there an easy way (from the editor, not code) to add a background to a text section? I have a TLDR section on my Wordpress site that has the heading and 3-5 bullet points at the start of an article. The background colour makes it stand out.

  3. Can you not change a line from Heading to Para? If I paste something that for some reason pastes as a heading and I want to change that to Para, I can’t double click and change it. Or am I missing a bigger menu/selection of formatting text? I just see 3-4 options when double clicking text.

Welcome to Ghost!

This will mainly depend on the theme you’re using. Some third-party themes overwrite the default styles.

Not natively, no. You could use the HTML card to do this though:

If you have a H2 or H3 heading, you should be able to just click the highlighted button and it turns into a paragraph again:

If the text is indeed a different heading, you could use these buttons as a workaround. Press the big H, then it will turn into an H2. Press it again, and it will turn into a paragraph.

Actually, the new Call to Action card can do this. Don’t add an image or button, turn off the toggle for the sponsored label, and just put your text to be highlighted in. You can see one in action (and lots of other praise for the CTA) here: Have you tried the CTA card yet? You should!
