What email service does Ghost use?

I’m having an issue where all of my emails get sent to spam and I’m checking with my hosting’s support and they are asking if I use PHP Mailer with SMTP… I have no idea.

The emails that are getting sent to spam are coming from <redacted> and getting sent to <redacted> so same domain. It was a password reset email I was sending (to test).
They confirmed my DNS is correctly configured. So, I’m trying to figure out what else is the cause.

Ghost uses nodemailer for transactional email, and this can be configured (by you) when setting up Ghost to use most email services. If you used the default (direct) setting, email is sent via your host SMTP relay.

Anyway, I just tested your site, and I received the email in my inbox. Therefore, it may be your email client or email service that is incorrectly marking these emails as spam.

Incidently, it’s not a good idea to post email addresses in a public forum.

These are alternate email addresses and 1 doesn’t work. The other, I don’t care if I get spam as I can change it at any time. It isn’t an important email. Thank you for the advice on that though.

As far as the rest, I will report to my email host and see where we go from here.

So I contacted them and created an email account for my site

They said this…

If you did not set up the website form with SMTP then the emails are being sent out straight from the server. If you are not able to find the SMTP configuration then that means that the emails are being sent out form the server and not from the email account directly

So, where do I find the SMTP configuration?

I’ve already explained that your server is working correctly. Indeed, you and I wouldn’t have received the email if it wasn’t.

The reason the message goes to your spam folder has nothing to do with Ghost or your SMTP relay. I assume you use Hostinger; you have a valid SPF for them.

Check your email headers to try and understand why the email is ending up in your spam folder, or mark it as not spam.

I have no idea what I am looking at with the headers.

X-Spam: Yes

Yes, I use hostinger. I have a VPS with them where the emails come from and I have hosting with them where I get free emails and the emails go to. There is no way to mark as “not spam” via their webmail and I added my email as a contact but that didn’t help.

This is why the email is landing in your spam folder for Hostinger only. I had no problems, and a test gave your domain a score or 95/100.

The only improvement is adding DKIM.

I suggest you speak to Hostinger, and ask them why they are marking your email (on delivery to your inbox) as spam.
