If this is helpful to anyone, I figured out how to implement gift subscriptions using Gift Up and Stripe. It’s decently elegant on the front-end and doesn’t require TOO much legwork on the back.
My Ecwid store has gift cards available, but there was no way to sync them with Stripe. SO… with I create Stripe Coupons for my two paid tiers/products, then insert those coupon codes into the Gift Up products. Worked nicely in the test I did.

Thank you for this! So I’m very close to getting my own stuff set up with these folks and can see how to connect them to my Stripe account (for the money to go in) but can’t see how to trigger the sale of the gift sub to automagically give the recipient a ghost / @LifeIsASacredText membership. Might you be game to share how you did that? It feels like there’s one more piece of the puzzle I’m not finding, some integration to make the thing speak to ghost – code or integrations (custom integration??) or somesuch. What am I missing? TIA!
