Abbreviations in editor possible?

This is rather a general question and therefore I have not given the standard answers.I hope that’s okay.
Is it possible to use the HTML tag “abbr” without switching completely to HTML mode? “italic” and “bold” can be easily used with the tooltip menu.
Maybe an idea for a future release: Make the tooltip menu customizable.

Interesting suggestion, when you get a moment you might want to post this idea into our Ideas category. I did a little bit of investigation and it turns out you can’t create abbr elements in markdown either, maybe footnotes would be useful to you? Footnotes on new theme - #2 by DavidDarnes

Here's a simple footnote,[^1] and here's a longer one.[^bignote]

[^1]: This is the first footnote.

[^bignote]: Here's one with multiple paragraphs and code.

    Indent paragraphs to include them in the footnote.
