Announcement Bar text gets used by Google instead of excerpt/meta description

When we use the Announcement Bar feature and it’s set to be visible to logged out users, Google will show the Announcement Bar text in search results underneath the page title instead of the Excerpt / Meta Description.

This is obviously bad for SEO and very much so not wanted behaviour.

(this is on Ghost(Pro), nothing custom, and the issue goes away when the Announcement Bar is disabled or set to logged in only)

That’s not the kind of Google behavior that can be controlled with certainty. They use the excerpt or meta description or something else, whatever they think it is most relevant. For my news site, the announcement bar might be most relevant.
