I’d love to see the automations setup include a way to distinguish between new users and upgrading users.
As I understand it, the current flow is that a new free member immediately starts the free member sequence, and a new paid member (whether actually new to site or long time free member) starts the paid sequence.
The problem is that I have three types of content.
-
General welcome to the site information that everyone needs to receive --once.
-
Asking free members to upgrade
-
Thanking paid members for paying, and sharing paid-specific resources.
Clearly the free automation gets #2, and the paid automation gets #3. The problem is that I have no guarantee that paid members have seen the free drip in #1 (direct to paid skips the free path, while upgraders may already have seen the whole free path). So I either put the welcome content in both free and paid automations (and annoy the folks who’ve upgraded after being free for a while), or else I skip the general welcome content for paid, or at least greatly reduce it, but these are the members I MOST want to have invested in the site, so I do need them to see it – once.
