Back office posts are fading

I run ghost Version: 5.110.0

Since then the back office is kind of funny… The settings are black when it was always white before which is ok :

The problem is more the posts that are fading and this for all the posts :

Any idea ?

I have the same exact issue. Glad to have found one more person describing it(!)

Not being able to see the text I’m writing in the editor, because of grayed out text, is rather frustrating.

Note: I have another Ghost install running the same version of Ghost but it doesn’t have this issue - so it’s hard to chalk it down to the specific update - But both the misbehaving one and the working one are the same version that Jeremie is on: Ghost v5.110.0

I was seeing it on one install last night too. If you’re seeing it, please add details on your setup:
Windows 11, chrome, Ghost 5.110, details to be added. Computer has been in dark mode at one point but wasn’t when I was seeing it….

i’m on mac, Chrome. It does it on Tor browser too.

I’m on Mac → Safari, but have also tried it on the DuckDuckGo browser on Mac, as well as Safari on iPad and Iphone – all show the faded text. So it does appear to be tied to the install rather than the system config.

I dropped the dev team a note. It’s Sunday, so I’d guess we’ll see a fix tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, you could downgrade to 5.109, which is not impacted, or switch over to dark mode in the editor, which is not impacted. It looks to be strictly an admin display bug, so it should be safe to write and edit posts today. They’re going to look fine when published.

Hang on… this is weird. I reopened my site, and now everything is OK again. So… it’s subtle, whatever it is? If anyone has a consistent repro case, please post it! (I think it might involve switching the admin panel in/out of dark mode?)

I just tried, activating dark mode and going back to light mode seems to have reset everything so my interface is also back to normal. Very weird.

Glad you’re back to normal. I am also back to normal and now not able to reproduce. I’m wondering if maybe we had some package cached, and a mix of incompatible versions, briefly?

@Cathy_Sarisky That does sound like the only plausible explanation I’ve heard – thanks for thinking of that! I’ve had a hard time wrapping my head around this.

Hi everyone,

There was indeed a UI regression in v5.110.0, linked to dark mode. We’ve therefore deprecated Ghost v5.110.0 and released a new patch version with the fix, v5.110.1.

Thanks for the bug report, and sorry for any disruption it caused!
