It appears comments only work on posts.
Interesting… but if that was the case then this would have the authors photo and name at the top like posts do on Headline? Maybe there is a secret setting
Try copying the commenting code from the posts template to the page template and see if it works.
My Ghost Pro plan doesn’t allow me to do custom theme changes :(
Another option then would be to create these items as posts. You have access to routes.yaml, so you can control where they appear.
It’s three years later but I can confirm this works! I want comments to appear (for my paid members) on a handful of Course pages. To do so, I just had to make changes to two .hbs files on my Theme.
On page.hbs I simply inserted:
{{!-- Comments --}}
{{> comments}}
Once I’d also updated comments.hbs to say {{#is “post”, “page”}}, this of course made Comments appear on all my Pages (including things like the About page), which I didn’t want.
So then I also added some conditions to comments.hbs, that ensures only Pages tagged with “#showcomments” will show comments:
{{!-- Comments --}}
{{#is "post"}}
{{#if comments}}
{{#if @member.paid}}
<section class="px-5 sm:px-6 mb-12 bg-bgr-tone sm:bg-bgr" id="comments" data-comments>
<div class="max-w-container mx-auto bg-bgr-tone rounded-theme py-4 sm:px-6 md:py-6">
<div class="max-w-content mx-auto">
{{!-- {{t "Comments"}} --}}
{{comments
title=(t 'Comments')
count=true
mode=auto
}}
</div>
</div>
</section>
{{/if}}
{{/if}}
{{/is}}
{{#is "page"}}
{{#has tag="#showcomments"}}
{{#if comments}}
{{#if @member.paid}}
<section class="px-5 sm:px-6 mb-12 bg-bgr-tone sm:bg-bgr" id="comments" data-comments>
<div class="max-w-container mx-auto bg-bgr-tone rounded-theme py-4 sm:px-6 md:py-6">
<div class="max-w-content mx-auto">
{{comments title=(t 'Comments') count=true mode=auto}}
</div>
</div>
