Email smpt settings for subscription activation but mailgun for newsletter?

Hi there,

we are currently using sendgrid to send email via smtp. We would like to try the subscriptions now. Emails for activation are sent via the email settings in config but newsletter requires mailgun. Why is that? Can we use the email settings instead of mailgun?
