Google warning during double opt-in

I noticed that Google designates Ghost’s automatic “double opt-in” email to new subscribers as “Dangerous”, combined with a bright red warning notice. I test this on 3 different gmail accounts and all showed the same scary notice.

I have no doubt this has a negative impact on conversion. Have others encountered the same issue? Is there any way to work around it?

I’ve only seen this with a very newly registered domain. Does that apply here?

New domains without track records are unfortunately (but very reasonably) subject to higher scrutiny, because registering a throwaway domain and using it for spamming/phishing is unfortunately a common pattern.

Ask friends to sign up. (And do that yourself too, with all your email accounts.). Ask them to add your email to their address books. Ask them to drag your content to their main inbox if it isn’t there, mark it as not spam, etc. All these things and just letting the domain age a few weeks should typically resolve things.

How are you sending those e-mails on the first place? Using a service like Mailgun, self-hosting or the Ghost Pro plan is taking care of it?

I am using Ghost pro.

Not a newly-registered domain. Newly used for Ghost, though.

worth reaching out to their support email for a gander at your DNS settings, then!

Thank you. The emails are sent from Ghost, so my DNS settings are not related here.
