I imported from my old blog; then deleted, now cannot reimport

I messed up. I imported everything from my old website; then decided I didn’t want a particular blog to be there; so I deleted all of those posts.

Then I changed my mind; but no big deal, I will just re-import. Nope. The new imports do not include the old posts. It’s like they are already marked as “deleted” in the system, so cannot be re-imported or restored.

What do I do? This is a hundred posts, devastating to try to redo one by one.

I am importing from Squarespace, the old blog is still up there, safe and sound. I have already tried renaming the blog and url over there; but deleted posts still do not import. Also, duplicate posts from my other blogs also do not import despite being included– like the system knows that it already has those posts. This is nice, not having to sort through duplicates; but I think is also the source of the problem with my deleted posts.

I’ve looked in the forum but I do not think anyone has made this mistake before. :frowning: Let me know if there’s something I can do. Thank you for your time.

Hm, this is not behaviour I have seen before on imports. Ghost definitely does not keep track of posts that have been deleted in the past.

How are you doing the import? Using the Squarespace migration tool within Ghost?

I’d be curious to see the (error) logs. If this is your site on Magic Pages, drop me a quick line, so we can have a look at these.

Hi! Thank you. Yes, I am using Magic Pages.

There is no error message. I do the same thing to import from square space as I did the first time, but the posts that I had deleted do not reappear. I am using the migration tool within ghost, and uploading the .xml there. The xml definitely still has the deleted posts.

Thank you for any advice!

Sending you an email. There is a separate error log that Ghost puts out. There is a validation error in there with a slug being too long.
