In the absence of a Banner Image, use first image

Is there anyway for Ghost to use the first image in the blogpost when there is no banner image?

This likely won’t be possible unless you access the admin API. Even then, the end result would be very hacky.

I have implemented this on my blog. its not exactly what I was looking for but it does provide a solution.

I also wrote about it and shared what changes I had to make in the theme to implement the workaround, I am using.
