Linking a few updates to what’s above, since some things have changed and some haven’t.
- The front end of Ghost is now 100% available in a target language. (Contributions for missing languages or missing strings in languages welcome!) That includes transactional email and the newsletter. We have at least partial translations for 61 languages, and more are welcome. Massive thread here - first post includes directions for how to contribute: Help translate Ghost (beta)
- Caveat: The official themes are not set up for translation. I’m hoping to deal with the blocker on that soon, but am waiting on time/funding. Many paid themes include translation wrapping and some languages. There’s an open source project that’s pretty active, maintaining a fork of the Source theme with translation strings: Source i18n with de, de-CH, fr, zh, zh-CN translations
So, I would describe user-facing localization to ONE language as excellent, or able to be excellent with some more translation help, depending on the language. That’s all native.
What’s not native/first-class right now is multi-language, where your site serves content in multiple languages, and users get menus, etc in their chosen language.
I haven’t used it, but here’s a theme that supports multi-language, although by requiring two Ghost installs. (Agreed, this is non-ideal.) Why TanaFlows Theme? | TanaFlows Documentation
