Moving an existing podcast to ghost

Hello

We’re an established podcast and we are thinking of moving from fireside.fm which currently hosts our podcast to hosting on Ghost as we’re looking to expand our media brand. We have 484 episodes we’d like to bring over and eventually transfer the RSS to come from our ghost website

We have a JSON file that caused an error when we attempted to upload it, we’re uncertain why this happened. We’re only on the 14 day trial at the moment so that may be the issue.

I have read through the documentation and there doesn’t appear to be much on moving an existing podcast to Ghost, only documentation on starting a podcast with Ghost.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are two approaches people take to podcasts and Ghost.

  1. Host the audio somewhere else. Embed the actual host’s player in Ghost, and use Ghost for your show notes, links, transcripts, etc, but not actually to host the podcast or its rss feed.

  2. Host the audio in Ghost. You’d make a post for each podcast episode, and put the podcast into Ghost using the audio card. You can generate an rss feed for your podcast posts with Ghost, but it’s a little hacky, and you’ll have to touch code.
I wrote a tool that makes this approach a little easier: GitHub - cathysarisky/podcast-labeler

I used to embed my podcast on my old site using the embed player from my podcast provider A-cast. Not only did it work like a charm but also looked amazing.
