Notes like Substack

Is there a way to create notes like Substack? I assume you just create a post and don’t upload a featured image?

Recently Social Web feature is introduced with Ghost 6. You can publish short-form posts (a.k.a Notes) from Network tab, and people from other ActivityPub supported platforms (like Mastodon, Threads or some others) can follow you and read your posts. If you want you can also embed your latest Notes to your website with a simple code that I shared on my blog: Adding Ghost Social Web notes to your website

Well this is fantastic exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully this will be a native feature of Ghost soon to compete with the likes of Substack

Your fediverse followers can like, re-post or reply your notes as in Substack. And in oppose to Substack, your followers don’t need to have an account on your site to follow or like your notes. It’s enough to have an account on one of the platforms that supports ActivityPub protocol.

UX is a little different, but if you ask me, it’s way more future proof, no vendor lock-in solution.

I wish there was, I love short format posting, and that is the big [basically only] thing I miss from Substack.

I think you can accomplish this by using #internal-tags and manipulating your theme to handle this request. You’ll just put something like the date or something as the title and your theme can set the title display: none for that specific tag. So you’ll just see the body content everywhere it’s displayed.
It’s achievable, but will take some tweaking. Cathy is a great asset and in my point of view, a clear expert in things like this.

@kbexit for sure it is possible to get kind of the look of it, but as I experience it, it lacks the features that makes various social media apps so easy to use for sharing quick notes, thoughts and media. In an ideal world one would have an easy to view and comment feed like Substack notes, with the posting features of the Tumblr app [as I remember it].
