Possible for members to subscribe to a tag and/or an author?

Hi there,

I’m fairly new to Ghost but have done some searching and can’t find an answer.

Is it possible for a member (free or paid) to subscribe to certain authors or tags? For example Joe Nobody would like to subscribe only to Amy Author’s posts - when Amy sends out a newsletter Joe should get them - but when Wendy Writer sends out a newsletter Joe shouldn’t get it.

And a similar situation for tags. Jane Somebody wants to subscribe to the ‘Politics’ tag and wants to get notified of such posts - but does not want to get anything under the ‘Technology’ tag.

Is this currently possible? Either via the standard features or a custom integration?

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you for any help
Paul

You can currently subscribe to any author or tag via RSS (by appending any of their URLs with /rss), but not with the members system as you suggest.

I’d like to do this as well, specifically to allow a member to subscribe only to “newsletter” tagged posts rather than all posts (or the reverse).

Are there any updates on this? We have several different tags and our members want to subscribe to different tags, but not everything.

This also would allow for a simple layer of personalization for newsletter content!

Myself and a friend would also like to have this functionality. Could we possibly build an integration that can do this? It would also be nice to allow users to pay for each tag they subscribe to separately, $1 per tag, for example.

I came here to ask for this as well. It seems like it should be possible to set up some kind of integration between a survey and the tagging system, but it’s non-obvious how one would go about this other than manual input.

A super nice feature. Though anything is possible, it would be difficult for pro users like myself to implement. A subscription where readers choose a subset of tags to subscribe to, all or just one is awesome.

I agree this is very important. Any publication that handles diverse subjects needs the tagging system. Perhaps selecting some tags when the user subscribes, because it’s easy to then send to certain tags when publishing.

So half of this system exists, the only issues is that staff needs to 1) find out from the user what he’s interested in and 2) add the corresponding tag to that user.

Add the ability for the user to select his own interests and this is covered.

I’m thinking about splitting the blog into several instances of Ghost to overcome this limitation, but then a user would not be able to sign up to all topics in one go. Too many accounts to manage.

Yes this :100: - feels like the feature is almost done. I have some domains pointing towards certain tags and it would be dope to allow people to subscribe to that tag for a newsletter in particular!

I think this is all Ghost needs to make it the perfect package.

Looking for a simple way where users can subscribe to specific tags too

Shouldn’t this be added to Ideas / Feature Requests? I’m also looking for this feature so I can have a blog on different topics that go out to different people (unfortunately not everyone uses an RSS reader)

Adding my voice here. Would be a very nice bonus for subscribers.

Hi!

I just registered to add my voice to this. I write about politics + technology and I want to separate the audience in my news letter.

How I think this should work is that we should be able to give the option to create sub categories in the newsletter membership / signup form.

When a person wants to subscribe, they can choose one or more category.

@oothenigerian this is possible in Ghost 5,0 and later with multiple newsletters

This is brilliant.

This seals it for me. I am definitely moving to Ghost!

Thank you!

I have a couple of newsletter that are only available to certain tiers. I don’t see a way in setting up a newsletter to having it show in Portal for only that tier. Is there a setting I’m missing?
