This is a feature request to transform straight quotes into curly quotes / smart quotes in site content. This could be implemented either as an option or by simply making the transliteration happen by default.
Because it’s widely acknowledged that best practice in typography is to use curly quotes (references below), I think automatically transforming straight quotes into curly quotes would be acceptable. The user shouldn’t need to opt in to this.
While some people have suggested workarounds for this, others in those discussions (myself included) think this should be supported by the platform itself, and not require a workaround.
