Hi all. I’m trialling Ghost Pro as part of my research on leaving WordPress self-hosted after 18 years.
I want to try the import function, using the Ghost plugin for WordPress and then importing the output into Ghost. If I understand it correctly, I export from WordPress and import everything into Ghost. If I only want to import, say, a month’s worth of posts, I can’t do that - it’s all or nothing. Is that right?
My WordPress site has about 5,500 posts so it’s no small blog. Thousands of images too. Is there anything specific I need to be aware of with this testing idea?
Thanks!
I’m not aware of a way to use the plugin to just do some posts, but you might also look at the ghost migration tools (there a migration repo in the tryghost github), if you’re handy.
Having said that: You should move everything. No, seriously. Move it all. Doing less than that means you’re breaking existing links, and it’ll be bad for SEO.
BTW, if you’re going to Ghost Pro, you may want to look at what their Concierge team offers - they may move your content for free, depending on your plan.

Hello, Cathy, thanks for your response. Yes, I agree, I should move everything so I’ve decided to do that. I’m now it touch with Ghost Pro support so the solution will come via them!
