Hello.
A friend recently changed the domain name for my blog. I’ve now noticed that when I click on “Newsletter” I get the error message: “Membership not available. Contact the owner for access.”
Can anyone give me a hint as to where the error is?
Best regards
Marcus
The site is set to not let people sign up (check under access) and you lost your cookie when the domain name changed
The settings should be correct too, right?
Since I believe the settings are correct, I would be very grateful for a concrete suggestion to solve the problem.
Kind regards
That’s super weird. What newsletter link are you clicking? Is this something from the theme or from portal?
Maybe the term “Newsletter” in the menu is a bit confusing. Before the domain change, if I clicked on “Newsletter” and then on “Register”, the corresponding registration form was displayed (screenshot “What_I_Expect”). I have just adjusted the link again.
If you now click on “Newsletter” and then on “Register”, the error message appears.
I have also attached screenshots of the other settings; if further information is required, please let me know.
Thanks for the help!!
The signin, account, etc pages might be used by your theme, but they’re unrelated to the links to the portal.
You haven’t posted a screenshot of the page with the error message so I’m not sure if this is a portal error or a theme error. (Although if you’re seeing it from a #/portal link, it’s a portal error.)
Are there error messages in the browser console? (F12 and look for the console tab.) Are the errors/failed calls in the network tab (f12 again)?
Here a screenshot of the error message (after clicking “Registrieren”) “Membership not available”:
The core problem is that the link below does not work or causes the error message:
In this respect, it doesn’t seem to be a theme problem, but rather a portal problem (which was probably caused by the domain change).
Browser console errors? Might be informative…
I’m not particularly keen on it. I use a Mac. Can you tell me in more detail how I should proceed here and what specific information you need?
Press f12 in the browser. That opens developer tools. Works in Chrome for sure and I think safari.
Alternately, link the site.
Also the Link to the portal doesn’t work:
Are you intending to load a custom portal version? It should be loading from cdn, not locally. Check your config file?
Yes. I am intend to load a custom portal version (like before changing the domain). How I have to prepare the config file?
Hmm. Those are just the map files, which shouldn’t matter. Is it possible your portal build is out of date/different version than your ghost install?
I have to get that checked. A friend of mine recently installed a current version of Ghost (hosted on his own server). Perhaps there was an error.
Thank you very much for your time and help.
I’ll get back to you when I know more!
