Feature Request: Auto-Updating Bookmarks When Article Titles Change

Is there any way Ghost could make bookmarks (or link previews) update automatically when the original article’s title or meta description is edited?

Right now, if I change the title of an article — say from:

Paris Travel Cost: 2024 Guide
to
Paris Travel Cost: 2025 Guide

— all existing bookmarks across my site still display the old 2024 version. The only way to update them is to manually find and delete each one, then re-paste the link to regenerate the bookmark. That’s not ideal.

Why This Matters

  • Updating articles is key for both UX and SEO.
If we’re optimizing titles for click-throughs or updating content for accuracy, we want those changes reflected wherever the post is referenced.
  • Bookmarks act as Ghost’s workaround for related posts.
Since Ghost doesn’t have widgets or plugins like WordPress, many of us rely on pasting internal links with bookmarks to guide users through related content.
  • Tracking down every place a link was used is a pain.
Especially for larger blogs, it’s not realistic to remember where every URL was pasted just to refresh a title.

Suggestion

If the current behavior is due to caching, maybe there’s a way to make bookmarks dynamic — so they always pull the current title and metadata from the linked post. That would solve the issue completely and make Ghost even more user-friendly for non-devs who aren’t editing themes.

Thanks for considering this!
