Free/public preview - is a really long scroll... can this be reduced?

I find that the free/public preview for members (free or paid) takes a really long time to scroll before you get to the subscribe box. Is this something that is fixed at the Ghost side, or is this something to change in the theme?

Reviewing recordings in HotJar, it seems people are giving up before getting to the signup box. Any advice?

It looks to be an issue with your theme. If I remove the fading effect you have, the callout box is right below the content:
