Hey,
I want to install Ghost on DigitalOcean, but I also need a mail system. It seems Plesk used to be an option, but it doesn’t seem to work anymore. Which alternative panel can I use to host Ghost? How can instal a self-hosted Ghost installation on DigitalOcean?
Thanks…
I’m not aware of anything outside Mailgun for email itself.
Why can’t we use Plesk or cPanel for installation like we do with WordPress?
For personal email, but within Ghost things are typically sent through Mailgun within Ghost, though you can try to change things for like sendgrid, etc. So are you meaning to send email as yourself outside of Ghost or to send emails from ghost itself?
As to why, I assume volume and services meant to handle a proper email distribution. (All included in Ghost Pro, part fo the costs for a plan)
Primarily because you are never given root access in shared hosting services. The built in ghost-cli command isn’t working properly in such environments. You have to do a lot of other activities on the folders and files continously to be able run and update a Ghost instance using cPanel. It’s just a big hassle imho.
Can you elaborate? Is this for outbound transactional email, or something else? Are you wanting user inboxes for inbound email?
