How to show Complimentary member as Paid member?

Hi,

At the beginning of the year, I ran a campaign offering lifetime membership at a discounted price.

This yielded good result and we have more than 100 such members now.

The problem is that this was a manual process and the lifetime paid members are manually allotted complimentary subscription.

Now, when the members get email, it shows their plan as ‘complimentary’ instead of their paid subscription level.

This creates a confusion and some members also objected to it as they paid for their membership and yet get displayed as complimentary.

TLDR: How to change the “You are receiving this because you are a complimentary subscriber” to “You are receiving this because you are a PAID/Level subscriber”?

That string is baked into Ghost’s newsletter sending. It would require edits to the core.

I agree, it would be nice if it showed the plan name, at least.

I’m not coming up with a great idea for wording that works for the case where you’ve given comp access as a workaround for payments from another mechanism (customer sends an check, pays with bitcoin, pays for lifetime access, gift subscriptions, etc) and access that truly is complimentary.

What would it ideally say for your case?

Thanks for your response @Cathy_Sarisky

I would prefer the subscription level. For me, there is Free, Plus and Super Plus. Displaying their level would be better in my opinion.
