Inserting a card between two existing cards

In ghost version 2.1.3 in Chrome, I have written an article with 10 markdown card for ease of editing and now want to go back and insert dividers, images, etc, between markdown cards.

To my knowledge and hours of experimentation I can’t find a way to click between cards, can’t get the little + up and if I click / it doesn’t do anything. I could copy and paste it all out to a text file and paste it back in but this seems unnecessary and time consuming.

Note at the end of the document I can create new cards without any problem so its not that its fault, I just can’t insert between the existing cards.

Please help.

This is possible by selecting the markdown card before where you want a new block, and hitting enter:
