NodeBB as user engine for Ghost publishing platform. Can this be achieved?

Could NodeBB be used a user engine for ghost?
ghost .org is a beautiful publishing platform but it does not have user engine, you can not let user register , publish posts, or follow each other etc.

There is already a plugin enabling users to post comments on ghost blog

I love the simplicity of ghost and the power of NodeBB, could those two work together to have a simple but powerful blogging platform?

If yes, any ideas?
