Hi all,
I’m using the default Source Theme and the Dutch (nl) language settings. I noticed that some elements are not translated and only display in English, like ‘Subscribe’ and ‘signup’, which is weirdly inconsistent.
I dove in a bit deeper and found the translation files on Github (I also contributed to improving the Dutch ones, while I was at it), and they include these translations, so it seems unexpected that these ‘basic’ strings do not show up translated.
Is there anything I do wrong? Can I improve this without hardcoding or theme tinkering?
What theme are you using? Where is the English appearing? I suspect you’re looking at a string in the theme or some of the prepopulated links (there’s a sign up in the secondary navigation). Screenshot?
Hi @Cathy_Sarisky ,
Thanks for your response. The theme I use is Source and the missing translations mostly seem to be around the words ‘Sign up, Subscribe, Subscribe now’, but also for this ‘Already have an account?’ type of phrases.
I don’t use secondary navigation, I think.
As you noticed on Github, I did check the Dutch translations, but these keys do seem to be translated properly.
Ah… @Cathy_Sarisky that explains… Thank you for informing me; I spent a lot of time searching and now it’s clear.
Isn’t that very contra-intuitive…: Ghost provides translations, except for the themes most prominent for Ghost…
Well, I guess it is like that for now, but I didn’t expect that for the official themes, rather the other way around. I’ll be on the lookout for a non-official theme then…
Thanks again for providing clarity!
