Posting from an outside editor?

Are there any external editors like Bear or MarsEdit that can post to Ghost? I looked through the Integrations, but did not find anything. Thanks!

The big one I’ve seen that is well-integrated with Ghost is iA writer:

You can also use Ulysses to post to Ghost. Think it’s just macOS software, but could be wrong. I recall there’s a way to use Notion to publish to Ghost as well. Maybe through Zapier?

Obsidian does this as well if you add the Obsidian Send to Ghost plugin. I’ve been using this setup for the last 30+ weeks, and it has worked flawlessly. Obsidian is free and works on all platforms, Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, your toaster etc (well, OK, not the toaster … unless it runs Android). There’s a (paid for) Sync system to keep everything in sync. This works very well and is much more reliable than Dropbox or Nextcloud sync which was problematic.

I’d previously used Ulysses for 2+ years (though not posting directly to Ghost). Obsidian is a bit less polished, but has a good range of plugins that provide some excellent additional functionality.

I write in Markdown and the Send to Ghost plugin converts this on upload into native Ghost text, so you can edit it directly in the editor, rather than messing about with MD or HTML or whatever.

I do almost all my jottings, clippings etc into Obsidian, and then write my posts directly in it before uploading. Note: The Send to Ghost plugin does not support embedded graphics. I post as a draft, drop in the graphics, make the final tweaks and hit ‘Go’.

That’s where I’ve wound up. IA Writer posts to both Ghost and Medium, which almost completes my particular use case. If it also posted to Substack, it would be perfect – but I don’t believe Substack allows any outside editor to post. (Neither does Beehiiv, for that matter.)

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks!
