I’m starting to giving Ghost a try. For the beginning, I’d like to youse the managed service, just to get comfortable with they system. After a while I will definitely change to self-hosted, if the CMS convinces me.
Is there eventually some kind of importer or transfer tool, to do this switch? If not:
Can I export all my settings, styles, menu structures, … and easily import them in the self-hosted installation?
As I expect the images und files have to be moved manually vie (S)FTP, are there any hurdles with the referencing and the permalinks?
Can I move themes, that I have bought in the marketplace, or are they tied to the Ghost Pro account?

I don’t know any importer. But you can export your writing in a JSON file. About the menus settings I guess you have to do everything from scratch.

If you use the same URL in the new host Google probably won’t even notice you moved hosts because the URL is the same

I think you can use the themes with other hosts. (100% sure). If you buy a theme from the a 3rd party dev you can use it with any host.
