Community question of the week #7: Change these design settings first

Design settings offer a plethora of options that vary depending on the theme: define your accent color, upload a logo, change your typography, or alter the whole layout of your publication.

Given all the design options, this week’s question asks:

Which design settings could you not live without? If you could add another design setting, what would it be?

:star2: Bonus points if you share a link to your own stylish site.

Our community is a treasure trove of knowledge, experience, and creativity, especially when it comes to using Ghost. Questions of the week are an opportunity to share and learn from these resources.

A setting for posts_per_page, which we currently set in the theme’s package.json file.

Pinning a static page as “homepage” by also -optionally- keeping “latest posts” under the page content.

I have my subscribe box accent color yellow, which I really like but all my hyperlinks are yellow, which is hard to read. Id like separate settings for this.

Do you change your accent color? (And what do you change it to?)

I’m not a designer and have no success to pick a color from a color pallette that give millions of color options

Maybe it would be good to provide a list of “nice colors” -if there is something like that- and then to reach this color picker under a “More…” button.

Yeah I have it as f8c91e and that makes my subscribe button, etc a nice pretty and noticable yellow, but also changes the links in my content, which is not so legible. Id like them to be different colors.

Making a static page the homepage is a feature I’d love. Many blogs don’t need to show posts on the home page, having an option to choose would save so much time.

That feature exists! You can make any page (or post) your homepage.

(You can see it in action on https://www.spectralwebservices.com - you’re looking at a Ghost page!)
